1ère semaine à Darwin : Woofing chez Will et Danielle

On décide de commencer Darwin par un peu de Woofing, le principe est d’effectuer 3/4h de petits travaux en échange du gîte et du couvert. Will et Danielle et leurs 2 enfants peuvent nous accueillir une semaine avant de partir en vacances.

On arrive tard le soir mais au bout de 10 min on se sent déjà à la maison ! Ils ont déjà une amie, Ange, restant chez eux en vacances, on doit donc dormir dans la tente pour les premiers jours.

Nos travaux seront relativement simples : nettoyage de voitures, du jardin, de la maison. Et surtout « dénichage » de serpents, et là tout le monde fait « Oh mon Dieu » ! Bon d’accord, ils n’étaient pas venimeux mais bon quand même sur le coup ça fait peur quand t’es en tongs et que tu ratisse le jardin ! Will a appelé la ranger spécialisée dans les animaux sauvages et elle est arrivée en 10 minutes pour le capturer. On a eu le droit à une leçon gratuite sur les serpents !

Le jeudi soir, on ira visiter le Mindil Beach Sunset Market, marché comme on les aime avec de la musique, de la bouffe et des trucs à acheter !

Pendant cette première semaine à Darwin, on n’a pas encore vraiment eu le temps d’explorer la ville, mais de ce que l’on a pu voir, elle semble une ville agréable à vivre. Notre première semaine de woofing s’est super bien passée, juste que nos horaires de boulots n’étaient pas fixes et on s’est finalement retrouvés plusieurs fois à aider toute la journée. On est donc content d’avoir trouvé une nouvelle famille puisque nos horaires d’aide seront fixes (en soirée) et on aura notre propre maison.

On garde un merveilleux souvenir de cette famille, une magnifique expérience en pleine immersion dans la vie australienne. Nous avons même pu rencontrer Joyce, une aborigène amie de la famille, pour un réel partage des cultures. La rencontre avec leur amie Ange fut aussi inoubliable, nous sommes déjà invités dans sa maison à côté de Sydney, elle nous a beaucoup appris sur la culture aborigène ayant elle-même travailler avec certaines communautés. Nous garderons un super souvenir de Will et Danielle, des australiens ouverts, curieux et adorables !
